Rheotek Announces New Capabilities For JetVisc At Pittcon 2009

New Applications:

Brake Fluids at -40 deg.C

Jet fuel at -40 deg.C

Very low determinability as well as excellent repeatability

New Features:

Filling station & securing ring

The filling station is now clamped in position with a new securing ring. The securing ring has an o ring and will prevent any sample running down into the analyser. Any spills can be wiped from the stainless steel top of the JETVISC.

The securing ring also inhibits removal of the top of the JETVISC, without removing the securing ring first.

The new filling station also has a d-shaped section which prevents it from turning. This will reduce wear on the interface to the viscometer.

Bar code scanner

It is now possible to purchase a bar code scanner with the JETVISC to scan in the sample ID straight to the Sample ID box. This is a simple USB device which simply plugs in the front of the JETVISC.

RHEOTEK JETVISC FOR TESTING VISCOSITY OF JET FUEL

New advances in sub-zero temperature kinematic
viscosity measurement

Key features include:picture of JetVisc

  • Fully meets ASTM D445
  • Fully automated
  • High Precision
  • In situ cleaning
  • User friendly interface

Advantages:

  • Automates a time consuming test -operator time using the JETVISC approx. 3 minutes verses operator time carring out manual test up to two hours.
  • Desiccant dries air in viscometer prior to cooling
  • Very precise temperature control < +/- 0.01°C at set point
  • Precision well inside test method
  • Automatic in-situ cleaning above dew point

Applications include:

  • Jet A or Jet A-1 at -20°C
  • Other aviation turbine fuels
  • Kerosenes at +20°C
  • Optional diesels at +40°C
  • And now Jet Fuel and Brake Fluids at -40° C

The RHEOTEK JETVISC provides a reliable and precise method for measuring aviation turbine fuels at sub zero temperatures. Automatic flow time measurements are determined in a high precision ASTM Ubbelohde Viscometer tube. Reported kinematic viscosity results are in full compliance with ASTM D445, IP 71 and ISO 3104

The JETVISC has been developed by Poulten, Selfe & Lee Ltd in response to industry desire for a simple, time saving solution to automating the kinematic viscosity measurement of jet fuels

The JETVISC can be configured with one or two measuring cells.
